Radon Inspections for Putnam County & Westchester, NY
Why are Radon Inspections Important?
Radon cannot be seen, smelled or tasted, but can be toxic to everyone in your home at certain levels. Studies have linked radon exposure to lung cancer, and it’s now the second-leading cause of lung cancer behind cigarette smoking. Your home can also trap radon, so it can slowly build up during a period of time.
Soundview Home Inspections can perform radon inspections in homes through the Tri-State area. Our service areas include the greater Connecticut region, which includes Danbury, Ridgefield, Greenwich, Wilton, New Canaan, and Stamford, CT.

How Radon Inspections Work
The radon level in your home can be tested in three different ways.
The first is a short-term test. These involve charcoal-based or electret ion activation that measure the levels for 2-7 days. The test is then mailed to a lab for the results. These tests are available at most hardware stores.
The second test is a long-term test that measures the levels for 90 days to a year. Most of these tests are based on alpha particle tracking, which can be affected by air pressure, winds, soil moisture, and snow cover. Therefore, this test is a more accurate reading of the radon level in your home.
Finally, continuous radon testing is available through electric monitors.
